Welcome to the Casadonte Group!
Research in the Casadonte group broadly encompasses three aspects of the chemical sciences that involve uniquely different interactions between energy sources and matter: 1) Sonochemisty, the interaction of ultrasound with matter to drive chemical reactions. We use the power of acoustic waves to generate novel nanomaterials, to develop new fuel sources, and to clean up
the environment. We also build unique instrumentation, exploiting multi-frequency and wave-mixing effects to enhance the variety of sound-matter interactions available. 2) Supramolecular Photochemistry, the interaction of light
with molecular assemblies. We design

catenated systems with the intention of developing molecular photoelectrochemical assemblies for use as light-activated electronic circuit components. Along the way, we also probe the photochemistry and
photophysics of the molecular precursors, which often have their own interesting stories to tell. 3) Chemical Education, the interaction of people,
one of the most amazing energy sources on the planet, with matter to
stimulate and generate new knowledge. We do this through the development
of and research into new pedagogies, through the application of chemical education to a variety of diverse population groups, and through outreach.

Outreach Opportunities for Undergraduates!
Become a part of out American Chemical Society Student Affiliate Group (ACS-SA) https://ttu.campuslabs.com/engage/organization/american-chemical-society-student-affiliate. Besides meeting other chemistry majors, you can go to the ACS national meeting and be involved with community outreach.
Our research group interacts within the domains of inorganic and materials chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, and physical chemistry. We work with chemists and chemical engineers, biologists and medical professionals. Fostering the notion that in the 21st century intersectional intellectual interactions will lead to the development of components necessary to solve ever increasingly complex problems, we encourage students at all levels of development to join us.
More information about what we do in our group can be found on the
RESEARCH link above.
Become A Part of CGSO!
The Chemistry Graduate Student Organization (CGSO) (https://www.facebook.com/TTUchemgradorg/) is looking for new graduate students to join for fellowship and outreach. Members of the CGSO can apply for travel grants to attend scientific meetings.
